The definition of remote within the United Kingdom is a location that is further than 30 minutes easy walk from a road. From this definition it can be seen there are lots of areas that could be defined as such. Especially in the more mountainous, moorland or forested parts of the country.
Red Kite SAR Consultancy was formed by a former HM Coastguard Rescue Service and Civilian Mountain Rescue Team Member with over 20 years experience in Search and Rescue as well as rescue and casualty management in hazardous terrain and locations across the United Kingdom.
We can provide a variety of services for those in the utility and renewable industries as well as those involved in film and TV production in locations away from studios and with a potentially delayed emergency response.
We provide these via our Specialist Rescue Unit. a team of rescue specialists, first responders, emergency medical technicians and paramedics who have received additional training in various forms of technical rescue and mountain skills.
We can also provide experienced emergency planners who can work in developing your risk assessed requirements as part of your own emergency planning such as those required under regulation 4 of the Safe Work at Height Regulations and similar regulations for water safety and confined space working.
Our rescue units work in teams of two or up to six with a supervisor as required under your risk assessments and requirements. They come with fully equipped all terrain vehicles and ambulances as required for your levels of cover.
When working in remote parts of the United Kingdom we only use experienced and knowledgeable technicians and paramedics with both the clinical and technical skills to provide Medicine in Remote Areas (MIRA). These staff either hold or are working towards their Wilderness Specialist Medical Qualifications to further their own knowledge and skills.
